The Creative Journey Behind Envy & Elegance
This “minizine” focuses primarily on different dress codes for various events and features an article on wedding guest dresses. Brainstorming and research led to a fashion-inspired cover design featuring a bold photograph of a gorgeous volunteer model (my sister). The elegant masthead runs across the top of the page and features a combination of sophisticated script and high-contrast serif fonts. Lots of high-fashion editorial designs as inspiration and hours of sketching and refinement culminated in a cohesive layout that seamlessly flows from cover to cover.

Building Envy & Elegance Piece by Piece
The meticulous research and inspiration drawn from high-fashion editorial designs laid the foundation for a visually striking cover, featuring a bold photograph of the model (again, my sister) elegantly framed by a sophisticated masthead. The featured spread for Envy & Elegance is an article highlighting the top 8 wedding guest dress choices for this year’s wedding season as chosen by the author (me). A description of associated dress codes was placed underneath each dress and set in Bakerville regular font size 10.
The timeline-inspired layout provided a linear visual flow punctuated by silhouetted photos of models (yep, sister:) in dynamic poses. The next featured spread contained an interview with, you guessed it! My sister. The question-and-answer style dialogue centers around her philosophy on topics relating to fashion such as self-image, confidence, and design trends. The development of Envy & Elegance also allowed me to explore creative typography and print advertising layouts.
