Redesigning the Cover of Percy Jackson and The Titan's Curse
Undertaking the challenge of redesigning a book cover, I delved into the world of Percy Jackson and The Titan’s Curse. Leveraging my familiarity with the story’s nuances, I embarked on a quest to curate ideas for an eye-catching cover design that would capture the essence of the narrative.
Sketching the Journey
From Ideas to Illustration
Beginning with the creation of 10 thumbnail sketches, I explored various scenes from the book, ultimately settling on a concept centered around the myth of Atlas, featuring a character holding the sky. Transitioning to Illustrator, I refined my sketch, paying meticulous attention to detail and selecting a font evocative of constellations to complement the design.
Refining the Vision
From Critique to Enhancement
Following a group critique, I made crucial adjustments, including changing the character to a silhouette to enhance the cover’s impact. Drawing inspiration from the book’s setting, I incorporated elements such as a rocky background and mountain range, while meticulously selecting colors that harmonized with the overall aesthetic.
Capturing the Essence
The Impact of the Redesigned Cover
In the culmination of this project, I achieved a cohesive and visually striking book cover that effectively communicates the essence of Percy Jackson and The Titan’s Curse. Through a blend of creativity, skillful execution, and attention to detail, the redesigned cover serves as a testament to the transformative power of design in capturing the essence of a beloved literary work.
